About Maximize

Maximize is a marketing agency for developer-first startups. We embed in our clients' teams and build their go-to-market across brand, content, community and growth.

Most of our clients sell to engineers and most run a product-led or hybrid product-led and sales-led motion. We work inside client Slack channels, CRMs and PostHog projects, and we ship work every week. Our growth work today covers website and product analytics, funnel reporting, PQL scoring, CRM integration, lifecycle email and visibility in AI answer engines.

The role

We're hiring a Head of Growth Marketing to lead the growth programs we run for our developer-tool clients.

You'll own growth for a portfolio of client accounts, from the first funnel deep dive to the experiments that move signups, activation and paid conversion. You'll set the standard for how we instrument products, score product-qualified leads and hand qualified users to sales. You'll be the senior growth voice in client meetings with founders and marketing leaders.

This is a hands-on senior role. You'll set the plan for each client, then build the dashboard and ship the experiment yourself.

What you'll own

Funnel deep dives. Run the working session we open every growth engagement with. Map the user journey across the marketing site and the product, capture current metrics and volumes, review the tools and data flow, and write down the known gaps.

GTM systems. Design and fix each client's growth stack: CRM (HubSpot or Attio), website and product analytics (PostHog or Heap), and enrichment. Make sure a user can be followed from first site visit to paid account, including across subdomains.

Activation. Work with client product and engineering teams to define the in-product events that predict conversion. Propose the event tracking plan, get it shipped and build the dashboards that show where new users drop off.

PQL scoring and sales handoff. Build PQL scoring from product usage and firmographic data. Define when sales should reach out, what context goes with the handoff and how deals get created in the CRM.

Lifecycle. Own onboarding, welcome and behavioral email programs triggered by product events. Run them as tests against a baseline, not as one-off sends.

Launches. Plan the growth side of client launches, such as new sites, product releases, funding and acquisition announcements. Set up tracking before launch day and report results against the pre-launch baseline.

Experiments. Keep a steady cadence of experiments on homepages, signup flows, onboarding and email. Each one gets a written hypothesis, a sample size and a readout date.

Client reporting. Define the core funnel metrics for each client, keep the data accurate enough to run experiments on and report results to client stakeholders in plain language.

The growth playbook. Keep our client growth playbook current, train the team on it and help us scope and price growth engagements. Work alongside our brand and content teams.

Hiring. You will also have the opportunity to hire and lead a growth team.

What you'll do in the first 90 days

Days 1 to 30

  • Join the weekly growth sync and the weekly calls for the client accounts you'll lead.

  • Read the funnel deep-dive boards, growth trackers and dashboards for current clients.

  • Audit tracking for each of your accounts and list the gaps between site, product and CRM data.

Days 31 to 60

  • Fix the highest-priority tracking gaps so each of your accounts has a trusted signup-to-paid funnel.

  • Ship or improve PQL scoring and the sales handoff for at least one product-led client.

  • Standardize the funnel deep dive and core metrics template so every new growth client has a baseline within two weeks of kickoff.

Days 61 to 90

  • Have at least one experiment live for each client you lead, with a readout date.

  • Present a readout for each account to its client stakeholders: what moved, what didn't and what's next.

  • Publish v2 of the growth playbook and a proposal for how we scope and price growth work.

What we're looking for

Must-haves

  • 10+ years in growth marketing, growth ops or lifecycle, with real time at a developer tools, infrastructure, data or AI company, or at an agency that serves them.

  • You've built growth programs end to end yourself. You work directly in PostHog or Heap, HubSpot or Attio, and SQL.

  • You know product-led and hybrid motions in detail: activation events, PQLs and when sales should step in.

  • You can design an experiment, size it and tell a founder when the data isn't enough to call it.

  • You can work with engineers on event instrumentation and write for a developer audience without hand-waving.

  • You can lead a founder meeting and push back when a plan won't work.

  • You can run several clients at once, each at a different stage.

Nice-to-haves

  • In-house growth experience at a developer tools company.

  • Experience running the growth side of a product launch or funding announcement.

  • Hands-on GEO or AEO work for a product: prompt tracking, citation analysis and off-site placements.

  • Experience scoping and pricing agency engagements.

  • A point of view on how AI changes growth work. We use it every day and want yours.

How we measure success

Targets will be set with the founders and each client in your first 30 days.

  • Each client's funnel tracked from site visit to activation to paid within 30 days of kickoff

  • Signup to activation rate against each client's baseline

  • Free to paid conversion against each client's baseline

  • PQL volume and PQL to paid rate where we run PQL scoring

  • Lifecycle program results: activation and conversion lift from each program versus its control

  • Launch results: signups and traffic against the pre-launch baseline

  • Experiments shipped per client per month, each with a readout

  • Client retention and growth scope added at renewal

How to apply

Send a note to mitch@maximize.partners with a short intro, your resume or LinkedIn, and one growth program you built for a product. Tell us the metric it moved and how you measured it.
